My final project is about the uncertainty related to galaxy collisions. In this interview, Jill Tarter talks about how scientists were at one point sure that the most likely method to discover communication from aliens would be through radio waves, but as our technology has advanced, we've found that this 'noise' has diminished over time. This relates to how uncertainty relating to astronomical observation changes over time due to the precision of our measurement tools. I also found the uncertainty within the Drake equation to also relate to my project as many of the variables associated with calculating galaxy collisions have some uncertainty associated with them.
