This video had two important parts that related to my project. The first was they specifically discussed google maps and its prediction algorithim. The video discussed Google Maps and how we predict how long it will take to get from point A to B? Do they think about learning? Will google maps, gets me from point A to point B as fast as possible? Where is AI? Is there any in original? No, it was very algorithimic initially and know perhaps has some more AI capabilities.. Word AI is sprinkled over everything and people assume things are AI powered which may be, but may not. Professor Goodman then preceded to discuss how Google maps does learn how you drive, and how people are confused about it, and how does an algorithm improve in an explainable way? This is something I would like to explore in my project. The second part of the video I believe is relevant is that there was a discussion of how computers/AI "mimic" humans, and specifically Schneiderman responds by explaining how music and telescopes are not really mimicking, but rather just tools enhancing the world. So machines will always first be tools, and then later will become more like partners to us. And I think we can see this in traffic forecasting.
