Discussion: This is an article about technology trends - AI, virtual reality, the metaverse - something I am particularly interested in. Firstly, in terms of VR and the metaverse, the article notes that while VR has improved with lighter headsets and higher resolutions, metaverse experiences have not yet become mainstream. However, due to major companies that see business opportunity in this - such as Meta - there is a long-term commitment to evolve this industry. In terms of audio interfaces, there are talks about replacing smartphones with smart speakers and audio interfaces such as the "Humane AI pin". However, the article details that there is skepticism around this. FInally, the pace of technological innovation could be both an opportunity and a challenge for journalism. AI has tools that makes journalism (content creation, news production) more efficient, but how do we navigate misinformation and IP concerns? In conclusion, this article gives us a picture of a future where technology which revolutionise journalism in ways that I had never previously concieved. However, the industry must be careful to consider ethical considerations in dealing with these trends.
