This article details a probabilistic-based prediction that highlights how early tobacco use is correlated with increased risk for Type 2 Diabetes for people later in life. This is an important finding that has skyrocketed to the top of many top health journals. More specifically, the study found that people who smoke are 30 to 40% more likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes than non-smokers, a figure based on this study that looked at almost 476,000 adults from the UK Biobank. This is an important finding that highlights how probabilistic predictions can be used in the health field to better society.
