This article discusses a graph of the past climate change (specifically, global warming) and the possible paths it may take in the future. It shows that the earth has been warming in the past and that it will continue to warm. The 5 possible paths range from a small increase in global average heat to a very scarily large one. Which path the climate takes depends on our actions; if we can reduce our CO2 emmisions, we can access the lowest two paths, but otherwise we will end up in the higher ones. The article also discusses the nuance not addressed in this graph: first, it is difficult to see the acceleration rate of global warming, and second, the temperature does not apply all over the world to the same extent but is instead concentrated in certain areas like southeast Asia. Our goal is to keep the global warming down to a 1.5 degree-Celcius increase in temperature as we progress into the future.
