I found it interesting how science fiction can be a driving force for creativity, pointing researchers in potential directions for their work. Typically, one would think that science fiction stories are, as the name suggests, fictional scenarios that are a figment of the author’s imagination. However, as Jill Tarter notes, some researchers have been utilizing such creativity to extend the realm of possibilities for scientific groundings. In particular, it helped push the boundaries of what they would consider as possible environments for life which they would have previously ignored or not paid enough attention to.
