I was personally really motivated by Dr. Tarter's journey of transitioning from engineering into SETI from her own reflection of feeling like engineers not making the best professors. It's cool to learn about how things like terrestrial microwave window and looking for specific frequency compression is something that isn't found or produced in nature but it is something tech can do. Even with the decades she's spent working on this, she's only had two major false alarms which is very impressive.
Her statement about "the century of biology on Earth and beyond" as well as her work with artists in residence really demonstrates just how important creativity and imagination is to searching for something that has no precedent. I really enjoyed it and it made me reflect on my own journey of thinking about embracing ignorance rather than certainty. A question I have for her is, how would she think about the impact of not having this mindset in her work of embracing a certainty mindset instead of ignorance? Would she be able to accomplish what she's accomplished?
