"The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence" with Jill Tarter and Prof. Alyssa Goodman was a captivating interview, especially for space, sci-fi, or alien enthusiasts like myself. This assignment also comes at a welcome time with the eclipse yesterday and my recent bingeing of "3 Body Problem", a new sci-fi thriller about contacting aliens on Netflix. The most memorable bit of information I learned came during the discussion of a possible encounter/contact with aliens in the future. Tarter speaks about "Post Detection Protocol" and how humanity may respond, and I was glad to hear that one of her first steps would be to tell the world through their website. Maybe I am a cynic, but the fact that the Search for E.T. intelligence is no longer government-funded is a good thing. I think the people deserve to know immediately, and I would worry about a hasty or perhaps violent government response before the citizens weigh in. Overall, the entire discussion was enjoyable and I highly recommend checking it out below:
