Though seemingly basic on the surface, I found Professor Rayo's point about how predictable humans actually are very interesting. Sometimes, we don't take into account how often and how accurately we predict other people's behavior, and how easily our own behavior is predicted by others. As such, I think this will be the most memorable part of the interview for me in a year.
Though this was a very philosophical and internal thinking interview, I think the idea that machine learning can predict human behavior will be extremely impactful in my future, and in society's future as well. Professor Rayo mentioned that though we are good at predicting other people's behavior, we aren't very good at predicting are own, and that sometimes others can do better than us in that sense. If machine learning gets to the point where it knows you so well that it can accurately predict things for you, taking into account your own biases and preferences, then yes that will have an enormous impact on the world in the future.
