A part of my final project on the predictive models in soccer is related to people’s understanding of the predictive model. Ultimately, the nature of this model is partly social. It is not as important to people’s lives as weather forecasts are but it is an important part of one’s social experience regarding the sport. Therefore, the interview with professor Agustin Rayo revealed that in order for people to trust a predictive system more, they have to understand how the system operates. With systems that use a lot of data and a statistical model such as mine, it is important to be aware that this reduces uncertainty and errors. I will use this in my paper when discussing the perception of my predictive system by the general public and the accessibility to information regarding how the system operates.
