What do you, personally, think you will remember most about this interview a year from now?
I think I will remember the section where he talks about how can we infer from our past. I think it is very interesting in how climate change has changed from the past to now, especially in terms of speed. Climate change is rapidly changing and it is defintely scary looking into the future.
How do you think any aspect of the interview will affect your own future, or society's future?
I think the aspect of where he talks about what we exactly need to know about climate change in order to be better citizens in the future. He talks about the little things people can change, such as not leaving the water on while brushing your teeth. Also, it was very interesting how some products marked as sustainable or better are not actually the best option. He gives the example of metal straws versus biodegradable straws and how metal straws are only actually the better option if that metal straw is kept for a significant amount of time.
I think you make a really good point about Kammen's discussion. Though climate change seems to be a large and impending shadow over the future of nearly everything that humanity does, it does seem to be a lot of the little things that can make a difference. To an extent, the way that we can react to it now may not be to rely on the idea that technology will advance and save us from our issues-- instead, we should change our behavior and begin to reframe issues. He has a lot of theories about how the world should mold itself to adapt to the changing circumstances, and that should happen a little bit at a time.
