This interview ties directly with my project on the prediction of human height. Due to human height's heavy reliance on the individual's genes, we can predict to some extent a person's peak height will be. However, there are factors outside of the genome that affect height as well. The environment plays a factor in determining a person's height and health. One of the things I found most interesting about the interview is the psychology of wanting to know or not know your predictions. The example given in the interview was that some people don't want to know the gender of their baby. Professor Church states that the diversity of the brain which is a combined influence of genes and the environment play a role in dictating someone's preferences.
