If I would have conducted the interview, I would have followed up more on the questions asked about whether space exploration will be primarily led by humans or robots in the future. I respect Dr. Tarter’s conviction, but I believe that it is not reflective of technological progress and the adaptations we must make to truly explore space. Human-led exploration would demand much more resources, ethical considerations and speed compared to robot-led ones, so I would ask why she is so certain that humans will continue leading the charge. What are the possible benefits of having a human-led exploration, other than having the privilege and excitement of saying that “a human did that”?
