I think that, a year from now, I will personally remember the detail that Firestein mentioned about how textbooks do not operate the way that the scientific field works which is counter-intuitive to a lot of courses I take here that are based on teachings in old textbooks. For instance, I take economics and in early economics courses, you learn a lot of classical economics where the assumptions are made that every actor is a rational human being in the market. Of course, this is changed and updated in later courses, but not until much later. I feel like I will now always remember that the scientific community does not work like how textbooks do with no chance for peer revision or updating because of the nature of print.
