David Laibson - Post 1

In watching this interview, I thought that the discussion on climate change was particularly insightful. The false confidence that emerges from data-driven decisions is interesting to think about. We forget all the time about the fact that everything data drive is also probabilistic at its core. There is no formula for getting a specific or causal conclusion but people often take these recommendations as such. This is surprising to me since I think that a lot of the information about modeling and climate change can misrepresent itself as deterministic when in reality a lot of uncertainty is involved.
