The point Dr. Tarter made that life may exist in solar systems that are vastly different from ours was surprising and, in a way, profound. Her response report on what was originally called FRESIP showcases how we have to really interrogate our assumptions as scientists, especially in fields such as hers where we might not know anything. Like Prof Goodman said, we don't even know what we don't know.
A question I would've asked Dr. Tarter was to just go more in depth about what she expected the signals from unidentified extraterrestrial intelligence to look like. She mentioned the frequency, but was there a particular pattern they were scanning for? How did they distinguish potentially useful transmissions from noise?
