This is a very good point Neil. I think that many people are wary of scientists would look negatively at this notion that ignorance is good for scientists. They would point at revisions and breakthroughs in science as proof that their prior models were not correct and that as a result no scientific conclusions can be trusted.

That is a very interesting question. With how highly unpredictable earthquakes are, it seems like it could take a while before earthquakes can be accurately predicted. As a result, it would be very frustrating to be in the field and have to wait for advances in technology before better models of prediction can be made.

That is a very good point. It is very hard to make people completely alter their lives in order to help save the earth. As such, I think we would have much better results if we encouraged citizens to make little changes to their lives such as carpooling when possible, making sure to recycle, and ride your bike or walk when traveling short distances.
